AAA Communique: June 14th, on a gorgeous sunny afternoon that seemed to finally herald the coming days of summer, a small group of should-be-committed leftists and peacenicks gathered outside the US consulate on University Avenue to protest both the US's Star Wars program as well as Canaduh's complicity with it. We in the AAA naturally share their disgust with gravi-capital's continued expansion into the reaches of space as it seeks to both perpetuate its monopoly on space travel, as well as its culture of death here on Earth. We particularly despise the racist, colonialist appropriation of Innu land in Labrador, which is set to serve as testing ground for missles, thanks to a largely seceret deal between the Canadian state and NATO. We, too, wish many cosmic curses on both their houses. But, sign-waving and chanting leftist slogans just isn't our cup of rocket-fuel, so we just gave a friendly wave as we whizzed by on the ether.
We in the AAA fully acknowledge that chanting repetitious slogans like those heard at leftist demonstrations can have a mantra-like effect and thus facilitate one means (among many) for achieving independent, autonomous space travel. But, past experience has shown us that just as lift-off is about to be achieved, some agent of gravi-capital will invariably appear out of nowhere to disrupt and interrupt any possible excursions into space, maintaining gravi-capital's nefarious monopoly. Today was no different, as the NDP's Marilyn Churley dropped in just as the chanting was getting good to give a long, boring speech in an attempt to score political brownie points and insidiously reinforce gravi-capital's statist ideology and thus hegemony.
We in the AAA decided to express our opposition to the SDI in a less passive, more positive fashion. So, on that very same evening a small group of cosmic nomads gathered in a prime location in downtown, central Toronto and launched yet another offensive against the forces of gravi-capital by creating a line of escape from its all-pervasive war machine. Openly defying gravi-capital's systems of surveillance and control, this brave contingent from various starnds of the rhizomatic network of resistance known as Free Tekno Toronto reclaimed geographical, cultural and imaginal space, thereby planting the seeds of the new society within the dying husk of the old. Subcomandante Marcos from AAA Zapatista, commenting on gravi-capital's one-dimensional ontology has said that it "forces us to watch the same movie everyday." But, on this evening a space was reclaimed in which one could see in brief visionary flashes new realities emerging through the lingering clouds of rocket-fuel.
While nowadays the dominant feature of the cultural landscape is a profound and seemingly insurmountable hyper-alienation, tonight a space was created in which people were free to come together to interact within a temporary community unravaged by the exchange relations of gravi-capital and its commodification of everything within the plastic, artificial environs of its Spectacle. With verdant grass and trees, the night stars and a full moon as our backdrop, some danced, using the trance beats provided by the mighty Sub-Transit Collective to enter the Dreamtime. Others, overcome by the ingestion of various types of rocket-fuel, chilled and used the more experimental forms of jungle and illbient layed down by the MIR Soundsystem as a vehicle in which to achieve lift-off. And, much inspiration for our community-based, independent, autonomous space exploration was provided by a screening of evolutionary prophet Sun Ra's cinematic classic, "Space is the Place." Indeed.
As gravi-capital continues to enclose and monopolize space in all its possible dimensions, we in the AAA will continue our acts of reclaiming it. While such acts may indeed be temporary as things currently stand, we have no problem making tactical retreats to amass our forces and continue the fight against the limits and constraints of this reality on another day and on every level of existence where gravi-capital has become dominant. After all, only a revolt as deep and vast as the Dreamtime itself is capable of even beginning to create the cosmos we wish to inhabit, one of limitless possibilities to be freely explored by all. Try to keep up, astronauts!
